Community Feedback Request - Slippery Rock PA Compost Collection Subscription
Hi friends !
I'm looking for local feedback (currently only those living in Slippery Rock, PA) on whether anyone would be interested in a compost collection subscription!
Here's how it would work...
1. TMM drops off a reusable compost bin that you place your compostable food waste in during the week.
2. After an agreed-upon pick-up date, TMM will pick up your full compost bin & replace it with a squeaky-clean compost bin to use for the next week.
3. TMM will take the compost and add it to the compost pile where wonderful microorganisms get to work breaking it down.
Did you know??
The typical household in the United States produces approx. 650 pounds of food waste per year!! & 60%-90% of this food waste could be composted and kept out of landfills!
According to 2020-2024 Census data:
There are 1,266 households in the borough of Slippery Rock, plus 2,309 in the surrounding township.
I did the math so you don't have to - but that is approx. 1,162 tons of food waste per year going to the landfill!
Composting is inherently a dirty job - I'll do it so you don't have to!
Contribute to the betterment of society by composting your food waste! Plus, the finished compost is an INCREDIBLE all-natural fertilizer for your garden or houseplants.
TMM is currently gauging Slippery Rock residents' interest in this potential offering.
Why does it matter??
Well... there's a permit for that! It's a bit of a process, and there are fees involved (for example, we'll need an engineer to sign off on the compost plan). You do NOT need a permit to compost at home, but if you plan to collect compost from others and produce a garden fertilizer, you do need a permit. That's why I am gathering insight/feedback/overall vibes from people.
